Sydney AI Safety Space

The Sydney AI Safety Space is a volunteer run and donation-supported coworking space based at Broad Church, 3 Little Queen St, Chippendale.

We provide free office space for people working in the field of AI safety (including policy work, technical research, field building, personal study, or engineering projects).

Come cowork with us for free! We welcome anyone interested in AI safety to drop by for lunch or a day of coworking, and you're welcome to keep coming back as often as you like. Just email to let us know you're coming, and we'll add you to the Slack (shared with Australian EAs) to introduce yourself to the community.

When you arrive, push open the door (or knock if it's locked), and come up the stairs to the coworking area!

Our space operates on a hot desking model, with an average occupancy of around five members:

No permanently assigned desks - choose any available workspace when you arrive.
We have meeting rooms, standing desks, and collaborative areas.
Clear your workspace at the end of each day.
Booking is optional, otherwise it's first-come, first-served for desk space, with priority access for members.

Monday Meals

The Schelling point weekly meetup! Bring your own food for a group lunch at Broad Church every Monday at 12:30pm - great chance to meet everyone! Microwaves, utensils, and hot water available.

Become a Member

Coming in regularly and working on AI safety? You're a member! Membership involves:

Priority access to desks.
Committing to volunteer for the space (help with events, maintenance, etc).
Sharing a brief quarterly update on your work.

We have a limited number of physical keys for after hours access, which are distributed among a subset of members.
